About LeaseAidDetector

LeaseAidDetector.com is a set of 13 paste-and-scan tools. Five look for overpriced or non-compliant clauses in Ontario leases and insurance policies (apartment lease, car lease, home, auto, and life insurance). Eight look for common red-flag language in things you've been sent — a job offer, an investment pitch, a marketplace listing, a social-media DM, an email, a text message, a call from someone claiming to be a grandchild in trouble, or a crypto pitch.

How it actually works

Each scanner runs entirely in your browser. When you paste text into a box and click Scan, the checking happens on your device using pattern matching against known trap and scam language — nothing you paste is ever uploaded to a server. We built it this way on purpose: you're often pasting sensitive stuff (a lease, a policy, a scam message with your name in it), and it should never have to leave your device to be checked.

What it isn't

This is pattern-matching, not a lawyer, a licensed insurance broker, or a fraud investigator. It can miss things, and it can flag language that turns out to be fine. Treat every result as a starting point for your own research or a conversation with a professional — not a verdict. If you think you're actively being scammed, the fastest real help is your bank (if money has moved) and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (1-888-495-8501), not a website.
